The auger in ice bucket was frozen and locked in place (some how liquid water must have spilled inside and froze the shaft and bushing). When the motor was activated to deliver ice, the jam caused the motor shaft to strip the threads. With the threads stripped, there is no way (that I could find) to get the drive auger off of the shaft (btw, it is left-hand threaded). I looked for a site that sold replacement parts for my make of GE refrigerator. I found AppliancePartsPros, and was very surprised at how organized it was. By entering the model number of my refrigerator, I was shown a set of (approximately) 8 general parts diagrams for my refrigerator. I chose the ice making/dispensing diagram. When we inspected the first time we found that Plactic had broken from the spiral part that for wards the ice. Also there were cracks in two places of other parts. There was a hole in the bottom of the bin. The new spiral was assembled and two new parts were replaced with help from the video and the diagram and the unit worked well.
