This evaporator fan bracket secures the evaporator fan assembly behind the rear panel. A rigid, correct-fit mount preserves blade clearance and airflow across the evaporator coils for steady temperatures while minimizing vibration and noise.
The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. Since the compressor was still working, I guessed that either the interior fan was bad or the main control board. Since fans are usually very reliable, I decided to replaced the main control board.
