I replaced the back cover because it was broken because the ice split the Styrofoam ducting, spent about five hour thawing out the drain. I used boiling water and used compressed air to blow out the liquid. GE really dropped the ball on this model!! I added a copper wire from the defrost heater down the drain. To keep the drain open. It took less than a few minutes on appliancepartspros.com (in the Q&A section); that I quickly had verification of the parts that could cause my problems. I ordered both to be sure. And with the overnight delivery (which was one day longer than expected) I received my order, correctly. Not to mention the trash compactor bags that I slipped in the order; were very economical. Replaced the assembly with a new one while I made coffee. Called the OEM and ended up ordering the part twice, once over the phone and once on-line after the first never arrived. OEM didn't mention the part was on back order. While I was on the phone cancelling both orders I was able to find and purchase the correct part from Appliance Part Pros. I saved $50 on the nose and received the part in 2 days (vs waiting for the back order part for 6 weeks). Read more
