Replaces the evaporator fan orifice housing that directs airflow in your refrigerator's freezer section. Needed when original is cracked or worn.
The problem was most likely the evaporator fan motor but it could have been a bad blade, loose parts or bad motor mounts. Hard to tell without taking everything apart and inspecting. This thaw heater is the evaporator defrost heating element that melts frost during the refrigerator's defrost cycle. Replacing a failed heater helps restore normal defrosting and reduce frost buildup that can restrict cooling. What it does:
I replaced the fan and heater element. The replacement was not an exact match. I had to adjust the parts to get the harness to fit the plug was not the correct size. The problem was corrosion in the connector coming from the freezer door; the wire easily separated from the connector once I examined it. Ordered new door seal for both doors (OEM GE parts from AppliancePartsPros.com.). Laid out new seals on flat surface (face down) to relax over night. Before installation I used a hair drier on high to heat and relax the seal, used drier more on wrinkled areas. Removed old seals and cleaned grooved and flat area with window cleaner.
