This is the range surface unit infinite switch for an 8-inch burner. It regulates power to the large surface element so you can set and maintain the desired heat level during cooking.

Controls the temperature of an 8-inch surface (cooktop) element
Replaces a switch that causes an 8-inch burner to be stuck on high, not heat, or only work intermittently
Helps restore smooth, adjustable heat settings
Designed for the large surface element circuit on compatible ranges

Disconnect power before servicing; this is a high-voltage repair
Note knob orientation and wire positions; take a photo for reference
Transfer wires one at a time to the new switch to maintain correct connections
Ensure the switch shaft and knob align properly before reassembly and testing

The screws ordered were the wrong type (I removed machine threads, the replacements were self threading) Not a problem.The screws fixing the burners to the top plate were badly rusted and the heads had to be drilled off. The remaining part of the screws had to be drilled out which meant that the self threading screws could then be used. Changing the valve was straight forward.
