This is a radiant defrost heater that mounts beneath or alongside the evaporator coils inside the refrigerator's freezer compartment. It periodically activates during the defrost cycle to melt frost buildup on the coils, allowing proper airflow and cooling. Replace this heater if the freezer is building up excessive frost, the refrigerator is not cooling properly, or the defrost cycle is no longer functioning.
I read the help guide on the AppliancePartsPros.com web site and then decided to test my defrost heater with a volt/ohm meter. I read an open circuit.
