After finding an excellent video on Youtube that addressed the exact problem I had, I ordered: a defrost heater and also replaced the Thermo Bimetal-Protec, and a sensor. The biggest problem was getting the ice that had formed on the back of my refrigerator to melt. I allowed this to happen on its own without applying heat as I feared heat may damage some of the plastic parts on the refrigerator. Ordered a new one from APP, which arrived within a week. Simple fix, nothing special. What IS remarkable is that within 5 minutes on the phone, the service agent from APP had identified the part and found it in the catalog. By contrast, I spent probably 25 minutes on the phone with Samsung Canada, whose agent had no idea what I was trying to order.
