This is the toe kick grille that mounts at the bottom front of the refrigerator, covering the condenser area and allowing airflow while providing a finished appearance. It snaps or clips into place along the base of the unit. Replace this grille if it is cracked, broken, discolored, or if the mounting clips have snapped off and it no longer stays in place.

This is the frame that covers the top of the crisper drawers in a refrigerator, serving as a support shelf and helping to separate the crisper compartment from the rest of the fresh food section. This is an electromechanical defrost timer that controls the automatic defrost cycle in a refrigerator. It periodically switches the compressor off and activates the defrost heater to melt frost buildup on the evaporator coils. Replace this timer if your refrigerator is not defrosting properly, frost is building up excessively on the back wall of the freezer, or the compressor runs continuously without cycling into defrost mode.
I replaced the Thermostat and Defrost Timer. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. Refrigerator not cooling or compressor running hot? This start device kit includes relay and overload to restore proper compressor function. DIY install.
I suspected the start-relay and tested it due to the lint plugged condenser coils. The start-relay rattled when shook, a telling sign it is no good due to over heating. I tested the compressor terminals and compared them the results with the Tech Data Sheet found with the unit, to find my compressor was still good.
