We diagnosed our washing machine by taking off the bottom front panel of the washing machine and discovered that water & detergent was pouring out of the upper left detergent dispenser area. On closer inspection we could see that the water inlet pipe was cracked which was allowing water & detergent to leak into the interior of the washing machine and onto the floor. This part is intended to replace the control board assembly on GE and other various brands of washers. The control board and washer assembly consist of the circuit board that controls the main functions and the dials that toggle those functions. The washer's control board acts as the central mainframe to the appliance. All main functions originate from the control board and allow the user to toggle between all the main settings. If a washer begins to lose some or all of the main functions, it's typically a sign of a control board issue. When the control board fails completely, the washer will cease all operations, and the board will need to be replaced. Beginning at the central control area, remove the faceplate or label area of the controls. It may be necessary to remove the trim before this is possible. Using a screwdriver, remove any anchor screws from the perimeter area of the control assembly. The circuit board will be directly on the rear face of the control assembly and is connected to a wiring harness. Remove the wiring harness and connect the new component. Place the assembly back into its intended housing but do not anchor it with screws until it's been tested to work properly.This part is compatible with GE and Kenmore appliances. It is a genuine OEM part sourced directly from General Electric.
Talked to your help department, gave them the symptons, they suggested the part, ordered and received in a few days. Googled the replacement instructions, put the part in. Troubleshooting guide said no water, but in fact there was too much water because the water level sensor was not operating properly. Code check said E22 - Fill timeout. Reason was that the air hose feeding the water level sensor had a pin hole. There was a spot on the hose between the 2 foam donuts that seems to have worn due to flexing. Air leak prevented pressure from reaching the water level sensor. Replaced the hose - problem solved! Read more
I found two methods to make the repair, one involved removing the entire outer tub ( need a helper to lift it out) and splitting it apart outside the washer. The other method was to split the outer tub while still in the machine. I was working by myself so I used the second method. This repair took the better part of the day and is not for the faint of heart, lots of parts to remove and keep track of. I took several photo during disassembly to refer to when going back together. I replaced the broken drive belt first and noticed the drive pulley loose. The nut that had held it in place had backed off. This resulted in significant wear on the pulley hub. I just tightened it up and installed the belt. I noticed the belt had a tendency to change its position on the pulley depending on the direction of rotation. I replaced the door seal for the leak. We had a small tear in the sealing surface that resulted in water dripping down the front of the machine (just below the door). I also replaced the detergent dispenser main box with diverter unit. This corrected excessive water being left inside the detergent dispenser at the end of each cycle.
