Refrigerator not cooling or running? This inverter control board supplies power to the compressor. Moderate DIY repair requiring basic electrical testing.
Compressor not running. Check power going to it and nothing. Tested ohms on the compressor. 8-10 ohms approx Lights and display all working normal so I assumed the main board was ok Replaced the inverter board. Confirmed there was 4-5bdc on the red and white trigger plug on the inverter. This thaw heater is the evaporator defrost heating element that melts frost during the refrigerator's defrost cycle. Replacing a failed heater helps restore normal defrosting and reduce frost buildup that can restrict cooling. What it does:
I replaced the fan and heater element. The replacement was not an exact match. I had to adjust the parts to get the harness to fit the plug was not the correct size. I cut it off and used the existing plug. Not a big deal and everything else fit. Pretty good for a twenty year old replacement. Also the heater element was a different shape but it fit as is.
