Ge- Cam Parts

Replaced both sets of door cams on my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. The most important thing to know is that you DO NOT have to remove the doors from the refrigerator to replace BOTH sets of cams. You just have to remove the lower grill which is a snap fit (I also turned off the water and unplugged the unit). The plastic bearing broke after 7 years of too much opening and closing. Removing original bears were not real easy, however installing new ones were quick. It works well. The parts arrived really quickly. Read more

I ordered the door hinge cam kit, both the hinge, lower and upper cam. I followed videos found on the web. I would recommend taking the refrigerator door off by removing the upper hinge bracket and lifting the door off the lower hinge. It was much easier to replace the hinge and cam with the door off. One video suggested using Di-electric grease to lubricate the cam surfaces. Read more

Emptied the door, removed the top door hinge plate, removed the door, then removed the damaged lower hinge plate and bushing, and then replaced them with the new parts. Everything went back together just fine, and now the door closes properly, and stays closed! Thanks!! Read more

Removed the lower hinge and repaired it, It was bent, allowing the bottom of door to rub on the inside of refrigerator. With the parts purchased along with the repair made to the hinge. The door now works as it should. Read more

I replaced the stirrer fan cover and fan, which had some carbon and slight burn marks on it. It was difficult to remove the fan cover as it did not rotate. I had to pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver, breaking the plastic tabs on the cover (which was being discarded anyway). I then cleaned any visible carbon deposits and replaced the cover and fan, using the old stirrer fan holder as it appeared OK. Replaced the upper and lower cam riser (plastic parts) on the lower hinge. APP's YouTube video was the reason I decided I could do this myself. My daughter helped. :) Tip: replace both the upper and lower even though the lower usually breaks first. The upper will sustain damage from the jagged edges of the broken lower one. I also bought the replacements for the refrigerator side. They cost less than the freight charge and seems like they will fail eventually since they're the same... Read more
