Second, verified that water was flowing from supply valve by disconnecting line to automatic water valve and observing flow into a bucket. Our dishes were getting mostly clean but we started finding really fine food particles inside cups/bowls (especially our tall travel mugs). Very long story short, the rubber flapper valve in the adapter assembly had warped and was no longer closing, so dirty water was remaining in the tub during the rinse cycle. I may just buy an extra since it will probably fail again in a few years and I'll need to replace it again.

I thought it was relatively easy, and no longer have to deal with leaks while the dishwasher is running.
