This bake element supplies the primary heat from the bottom of the oven during the Bake cycle. Replace it to restore proper preheating and even results when the original is burned out, damaged, or no longer heating. What it does:

Bought and installed new hinges. Repair took about an hour but I also cleaned all the glass inside and out on both oven doors.
