Samsung DG96-00110E Range Convection Fan Motor OEM Part

Diagnosed the problem by seeing the lower fan was not turning. Didn't have any squeaks or sounds as a warning sign... It just stopped working. Went to AppliancePartsPros.com typed in my make & model number (Samsung NE58F9710WS). The web site pulled up the parts schematic, I navigated to the part on the schematic (Assembly #8 - Assy Motor Convection-Re DG96-00110B / AP5580897) and ordered it "Express Shipping" because I need the oven for Thanksgiving. When the part arrived, it looked identical to the existing and I assumed it was the correct one. I installed it from the back, but when I went to attach the fan on the shaft from the front (inside) of the oven, the nut securing the fan would not thread onto the fan shaft. I had to remove the fan, and then I could see that the threads on the shaft of the motor were not the same as the previous part. I called AppliancePartsPros.com to ask if there was a problem. The person I spoke with put me on hold, checked, and when she came back on the phone, she said that I ordered the correct part from the Schematic, but the Schematic is incorrect. She said she could send me out the "Correct" fan motor (again "Express Shipping" hoping to get the oven fixed in time for Thanksgiving), but I would have to pay for the part in advance and I would be refunded for the first part when they received it back. So now I had to pay for two express shipping charges and a return shipping charge. When I received the 2nd fan motor, I immediately tested the existing fan nut (Left Hand Threads) and it worked! However, while replacing the fan, I noticed the tabs to receive the wiring harness were different, and the existing wiring harness would not work on the new fan motor. After "Splitting" the harness in two and adding some shrink tubing to keep things safe, the new part worked and I re-assembled the oven. Not the easiest repair ever, but I was able to finally get it to work in time for Thanksgiving!

1. Pulled stove out and away from cabinets. 2. Unplugged stove. 3. Removed convection fan cover (2 screws). 4. Removed convection fan brass retaining nut (I used a 9mm socket). - Hold fan still by grasping blade with one hand - Unscrew nut by turning wrench clockwise 5. Remove fan from motor (should gently slide off). 6. Remove stove backing (5 screws). 7. Unplug fan motor electrical connection. 8. Remove convection fan motor (3 screws). - There may/should be a sleeve on the fan motor axle. Remove and place on new motor. 9. Install new convection fan motor (3 screws). 10. Reattach fan motor electrical connection. 11. Reinstall stove backing (5 screws). 12. Place fan blade on fan motor axle. 13. Screw retaining nut back on to motor. - Hold fan still by grasping blade with one hand - Screw nut on by turning wrench counter-clockwise 14. Reinstall Convection Fan motor housing (2 screws). 15. Plug stove back into electrical outlet. 16. Return stove to position.

Replaced fan with new one. 2 screws inside oven to remove cover. Unscrewed fan blade. Opened back of oven and removed 3 screws holdin fan. Popped off electrical connector. Swapped fan and put back together.

The assembly was a simple pull and replace with one wiring hiccup. 1. Remove the fan cover from inside the oven (2 phillips screws). 2. Use a 9mm wrench/socket to remove the fan from the motor. The thread is reversed - so opposite of lefty loosey... 3. remove the back cover from the oven (5 phillips screws) The motor is in the middle of the back, of the oven. It has a wiring harness with 2 wires attached to it, and is held on by 3 screws. 4. Remove the wiring harness 5. Remove the motor (my motor no long spun freely) My stove was one of the earlier units (April 2014) and the wiring clip did not fit the new motor, even though it was Samsung's exact replacement part. I called customer service and made sure I had the right part -- which I did. At this point I clipped the wiring harness off and replaced the connector with 2 spade connections. If you have a later unit, replacing the spade connectors may not be necessary, but have them ready in case just in case.. 6. Install the new motor back into the oven 7. Reattach the wiring harness using the new spade connectors 8. Replace the oven back 9. Reattach the fan inside the oven 10. Reattach the fan cover. 11. Quick test -- works like a charm.

Easy diagnosis after reading review on Appliance Parts Pro website. Wiring from large center fan (not working fan) also powers smaller fan above (working fan). Therefore ordered part, swapped out motors, and saved a bunch of cash. 15 minute job. Nut that secures rotating fan is reverse thread.
