Ken S Simi Valley , CA November 23, 2021 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KBFS20EVWH2 Rubber seal/gasket was torn on our refrigerator The rubber seal/gasket was torn on our KitchenAid refrigerator right side door. I purchased the replacement and followed the directions/recommendations of how to prepare the new gasket for installation. When it's removed from the shipping box, it does have wrinkles and preparing it is a must. I set it out on our tile floor and then used a heat gun (low setting) to warm it up and massage it. It took me about 15 minutes, stopping and restarting as I let the rubber come back to it's desired shape. Once that was completed, I removed the old gasket and the new one went in perfect. Preparing the new gasket is a MUST for a satisfied and successful installation. Read More... 16 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
Terry R Centertown , MO August 29, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator AFF2534FEW11 My maytag refrigerator lost cooling in refrig part freezer was ok My son-in-law who was a serviceman for appliances at one time inserted the new gasket in my refrigerator. He said it was easy to do and he and my daughter have the same refrigerator. She had to pay a serviceman $175.00 to fix the same problem with her refrig several years ago. She replaced the gasket herself after she found out the air vent at the back of the freezer had been blocked with frost. She cleared it with a hair dryer and it was OK for a week or so . She got a new gasket and has not had the problem since. I was told to keep the gasket clean with 409 and it will stay pliable and not let air in at the door. Thanks guys for the gasket. No tools were needed. Read More... 7 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
