Ge WB20K8 Gas Range Oven Thermostat OEM Part

The repair was relatively simple and quick. The only part required was a new oven thermostat assembly and the tools I used for my model was a flathead screwdriver, cross-point screwdriver, torque bit and 1/4 inch socket using a bit driver. To complete the repair, I did the following: 1. Remove all top stove burner pieces and place to the side. Remove the 3 three screws (torque bit) in each of the 4 burner locations. That will allow the top lid to separate from the main unit later. 2. Pull off all temperature control dials from the front panel (manifold) and place to the side. 3. Using a thin flathead screwdriver (or decent sized car key), press in the two pressure-snap anchors that hold the top lid to the main unit, which are located near the right-most and left-most corners. It takes a good amount of force to get them to release but they will pop once that force is met. Lift the lid and secure it open using the stands that come out on the right and left sides. 3. Locate and remove the screws that hold the front manifold panel on. There are a couple on the bottom side as well as some on the front. 4. Open the oven door and remove all baking racks so they don't get in the way. Reach in the back-top of the oven and pinch the two anchors that are holding the thermostat bulb to the oven wall, to release them. Carefully open the anchor's inner part to release the thermostat bulb from the anchors. Once the anchors are removed from the thermostat bulb place them to the side. Begin to feed the thermostat copper line back up through the hole that it enters the oven with. From the back of the oven, continue to pull the line out through the hole. Slight bending of the line is necessary and ok. Then pull it from the front of the oven under the top lid. 5. Unscrew the thermostat from the back of the front panel manifold. Replace with the new thermostat and reverse process to reassemble.

Our oven was functional but would no longer regulate the temperature. It seemed clear that the thermostat had reached the end of its life.
