How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2623073 / WB20K8 Oven Thermostat

Our oven was functional but would no longer regulate the temperature. It seemed clear that the thermostat had reached the end of its life. Searching online, I found a blog that documented the repair process and they also recommended AppliancePartsPros.com. I ordered the part at 1:43 p.m. PST and the part arrived at 9:00 a.m. the next morning! Overnight shipping had been one of the options but I chose two business days. They say their shipping is fast and they are not kidding! I installed the thermostat shortly thereafter and the oven is up and running. Thank you! 

I replaced the thermostate 

Purchased oven thermostat replacement.. Delivered within 24 hours..removed existing unit and made replacement within 45 minutes.. 

The shipment of the replacement was incredibly fast. We found ourselves with a broken oven before Christmas. We diagnosed the Oven Thermostat as the problem. I will repeat the shipment of the new replacement part was quick. Removing and replacing the new part was less than an hour and eveything worked fine. Thank you!!

I watched a video on this web site, which was great. Just had to familiarize myself where the parts are on my stove. It took longer than a pro, but I didn't have to pay for a service call and the parts were cheaper, too. It was just a bit more difficult than changing a light switch. 

I replaced the thermostat. Me!! A little old lady. Well not that old - a young fifty-ish. My 12 year old grandson helped while he kept telling me he thinks I should call a technician. I, of course, kept telling him, "I am a technician." In the days before replacing the thermostat, we first turned off the gas. Well my family did. I was out of town. When I got home, we turned the gas on and with the dial still set on off, the igniter started heating up so .... We turned on the gas but unplugged it. We were able to use the stovetop (using a lighter since it has electronic ignition). For the repair, we left the gas on but it was still unplugged. I watched a couple of videos but all of them were on stoves where the dial was on top at the back near the wall and mine is in front of the stove. We followed the path, unclipped and unscrewed the old one and put the new one in. Voila! It worked. 

Ordered the thermostat from here. Part came in, in excellent condition. Just took a few mins to change out and new part fixed the problem. Will definitely keep this place in mind for any other appliances that need to be repaired. 

Got up and had a cup of coffee while I got tools ready. I followed Simon's instruction video for all of the components. It was a great help. I did some "nook and cranny" cleaning as I went through the installation process. Always nice to have a clean stove. With the instructions and a couple of cups of coffee it was done in about an hour, with most of the time spent cleaning. 

Followed video - but replacement part seemed too big. Called for support, Michaell was SUPER --- he patiently talked us through suggestions. We sent pictures through email. Finally tipped the part and it fit.
