Based on the sound of arcing, one of the elements failed. The upper one tested fine; too bad, as that's the easy one to access. The lower element on my Bosch induction range is accessible from the back, but only after you pry and bend a vertical piece of sheet metal down to a 30-40 degree angle. This meat probe sensor is a temperature-sensing device that inserts into food while it cooks in the oven, allowing the oven to monitor the internal temperature and automatically stop cooking when the target temperature is reached. It connects to a jack inside the oven cavity via a heat-resistant cable. This switch regulates the power level sent to a surface heating element on the cooktop, allowing you to adjust the temperature from low to high settings. It connects between the control knob and the burner element to cycle power on and off at intervals that maintain the selected heat level. Replace this switch if a burner only works on one setting, won't turn off, won't heat at all, or provides inconsistent temperatures.
It took about 30 minutes (including the time it took to clean up the junk that had accumulated over the months under the range floor). Easy to do. Just removed about 12-odd screws in order to remove the cosmetic plates/covers the covers, etc., to access the unit, took off one wire at a time from the old unit and connected it to the new unit, then put everything back.
