Idler Pulley (Dryer Belt Tensioner)

This idler pulley keeps tension on the dryer drum belt so the motor can spin the drum smoothly. Replacing a worn pulley can quiet squealing and restore consistent tumbling.

  • Maintains proper belt tension so the drum turns under load
  • Free-spinning pulley reduces friction and belt wear
  • Common symptoms of failure: squealing/chirping noises, drum won't turn, belt slipping or fraying, burning rubber smell
  • Helps prevent the belt from jumping off the motor or drum
What's included: 1 idler pulley Install notes:
  • Disconnect power; for gas dryers, shut off the gas supply
  • Access typically requires removing the top/front panel and releasing belt tension to remove the drum
  • Transfer any spacers/retainer from the old pulley to the new one; the pulley spins freely before reassembly
  • Route the belt per the model's diagram and check belt alignment/tension before test run
