This refrigerator compressor circulates refrigerant to cool the appliance and restore proper temperatures. Replaces a failed compressor to help the refrigerator maintain set temperatures when the cooling system is compromised. What it does:

• Pumps refrigerant through the sealed cooling system to enable heat exchange and cooling.
• Runs the refrigeration cycle so the refrigerator and freezer can reach and hold target temperatures.
• Common symptom linkage: fridge not cooling, compressor humming or not running, or frequent cycling.
