Weedeater Lawn Mower Starter

This is a starter solenoid used in a variety of riding lawn mowers and yard tractors. Unlike most push mowers that are started by pulling a rope and firing a magneto, riding mowers have starters and batteries. The solenoid is the link between the battery and starter. When the ignition key is turned, electricity from the starter flows through the solenoid to the mower's ignition, firing the engine. A symptom of a bad solenoid is the if the engine fails to turn over.
