The Top Igniter Electrode is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ranges. This part provides the spark to ignite the surface burners.
Causes involve repetitive heat stresses and deterioration of internal wiring over extended use. Corrosion from possible gas or moisture intrusion may also degrade electrode performance.
Symptoms of a faulty top igniter electrode include:
- Burners failing to light or stay lit during cooking
- Potential gas leaks or explosions from unlit burners

This is a Montgomery Ward gas range made by Tappan. Parts are no longer offered for this appliance. So, I had to eyeball various ignitors to determine which one would work. I settled on the least expensive one and ordered two (Just in case there were "issues"). The parts arrived quickly but were not a simple drop-in replacement.
