Joseph Z Country Club Hills , IL October 24, 2016 Appliance: Model MONTGOMERY WARD KTM-2437-87/68-03337-86492551 Weak spark on right side burners causing them to not light This is a Montgomery Ward gas range made by Tappan. Parts are no longer offered for this appliance. So, I had to eyeball various ignitors to determine which one would work. I settled on the least expensive one and ordered two (Just in case there were "issues"). The parts arrived quickly but were not a simple drop-in replacement. The new ones were longer and smaller in diameter. I had to use the original bracket because it provided the electrical ground for the spark. I used a spring to retain the new ignitor in this bracket and adjusted the spring (like a screw) to hold the new ignitor in the best available position. I also had to cut the wire from the old ignitor and install a spade quick disconnect for the new one. Having done all that, I then had to monkey around with that bracket until I had the right spark gap (like a spark plug on a car engine) to ignite the burner. This took hours and I ended up with a very distorted bracket. I kept bending it and straightening it until the magic flame appeared. Finally, success!!! I'm now getting consistant ignitions on the right side burners. I also cleaned the burner. It was full of oxidized material which I removed and then cleaned each orifice with numerous toothpicks. I think dental probes would have done a better job, but mine were unavailable at the time. If I had used them, or something else metallic, I would have had to be careful of distorting those little holes. The job took much longer than I had planned, but I was able to keep an obsolete (almost forty years old) gas range running. Just to be on the safe side, I'm starting to save up for a new range, in case this one gives up the ghost. Richard H Albuquerque , NM February 27, 2015 One burner on our natural gas kitchen stove was not working I called an appliance parts & repair house. Their advice was that a tech would have to make a house call to diagnose the problem...cost $80 for the visit and $100 plus if it needed a new harness or $30 for an igniter or..... After a brief conversation & a little troubleshooting on my part, I concluded the igniter was faulty since all other burners were igniting properly. A search online led me to your company. I ordered a $10.08 igniter, received it 3 days sooner than expected, installed it in 15 minutes and saved about $115. Thanks for your great service. John K Hatboro , PA August 17, 2014 Appliance: Tappan Gas Range TGF336CHSE Pilot wouldn't light on one burner Thought it was the igniter so I ordered a new one. When I went to my daughter's house to put it in, I noticed something coating it. I cleaned the old igniter (and it worked fine) so I scrubbed the whole stove, oven, area behind the stove and finally the entire kitchen floor. That's what retired dads do. I used your contact link about returning then part and was told it wasn't worth the cost so I'm being given a refund. I do all the repairs at my home, my two daughters', and anyone else who asks and you will be my first and only option in the future. I appreciate how quickly the part was shipped and the consideration in lieu of returning it. . Giovanni R Bronx , NY May 17, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Frg(V2) / Gas Cooktop FGC3X4XADC 1 top burner wouldn't lite Since all the other igniters were operating properly I just had to change out the 1 bad igniter. Like everyone else, The burner retaining screw broke right away. I decided to change it from underneath. Removed the 4 screws holding the cooking surface to the chasis. There are 8 screws in pairs, 1 upper and 1 lower. You just need to remove the upper 4. Prop up the cooking surface. Remove the wire and then the 1 screw holding the igniter in the burner. Igniter should slide right out. Place the new igniter in place carefully to not damage the ceramic tip. Replace wire. Done.
