William S Rio Linda , CA July 17, 2026 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ID5HHEXVQ01 Freezer temperature spread was 10 to +20 and often the compressor would not start I replaced the thermostat switch first, which helped, but sometimes the unit would not start, even after power down for 15 minutes. I inspected the evaporator, and it showed no signs of icing. Cleared the dust from the coils. Replaced the run capacitor (and also the start device assembly.) This fixed the problem and now unit cycles as expected. I suspect that the start device assembly was not needed, but since I bought it, I replaced it. Read More...
