Whirlpool WP8524471 Door Latch Actuator OEM Part

Our 7 y/o dishwasher wouldn't close and therefore we couldn't get it to run. I called several service places who charged $75-$90 diagnostic plus parts & labor, and they were not able to get here for at least a week. I knew it was going to run at least $200. Kitchenaid wanted > $400 for a 1 YEAR WARRANTY, but it would cover this service call and any more throughout the next year. Seemed a little steep given the unit is already 7 y/o. I watched a couple videos on this site and YouTube and decided we could probably fix it ourselves. Not really knowing which piece was "bad", I purchased all 3 door handle mechanism parts and decided we could probably use an upgrade on all of them. It turned out the actuator was the culprit, but I was happy to only spend $102 (including expedited shipping) and we were back up in running the next day. The repair time itself was about 30-45 min. I would mention, I tried to "clean up" some debris and might have splashed a little water on the electrical wires. As a result, the unit wouldn't run as soon as we closed up the door panel. We waited a few hours, let things dry out and now it works PERFECTLY. I am thrilled I went this route considering I knew what the faulty part was. I would use this company again.

Replaced the door latch and handle.

With a family of 5 we use our dishwasher a lot. After 5 years use we were having to slam the door too hard to shut it. A new actuator and fifteen minutes delayed the search for a new dishwasher. It was simple to replace.

I replaced the door switch

I removed the area where the handle and electronics are located. This envolved removing 6 screws. The latch assembley came out very easy and watching the video on your site did help a lot and made repair very easy. I relplaced the handle and while I had it appart, I replaced the door actuator and spring. As stated, the repair video on your web site made the repair very easy.
