How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012866 / WP8524471 Door Latch Actuator

Replaced the door latch and handle. 

With a family of 5 we use our dishwasher a lot. After 5 years use we were having to slam the door too hard to shut it. A new actuator and fifteen minutes delayed the search for a new dishwasher. It was simple to replace. 

I replaced the door switch 

I Google the symptoms, went to appliancepartspros.com and ordered the latch assembly parts. While ordering the parts I watched their repair video. Once I received the parts( quick shipping) I installed them in about 30 minutes. Eureka!! Repair successful. Thanks appliance parts pros! 

I removed the area where the handle and electronics are located. This envolved removing 6 screws. The latch assembley came out very easy and watching the video on your site did help a lot and made repair very easy. I relplaced the handle and while I had it appart, I replaced the door actuator and spring. As stated, the repair video on your web site made the repair very easy. 

Using the parts I ordered all (my) repairs went well. Everything works again as new. 

Got the diagram, got the 4 parts, put them on after watching helpful videos. Works great!! 

I watched the video, bought the parts, and installed them the way that the video showed how it was done. 

I watched the very simple video on the appliance parts pros website and was guided through without a problem. Our dishwasher is a Kitchen Aid and it seem the small plastic arms of the door handle break off every few years. Design should be a metal sprocket but since it is not then that means we have to replace these handle parts every few years. Now that I know how it is not a huge stress for me anymore. I also bought a spring, bracket and actuator just in case and replaced them all but the part that gets the most wear is the plastic handle.
