Carole C Oklahoma City , OK January 03, 2015 Appliance: KitchenAid Mixer KSM5 Bowl lift would no longer stay up on my mixer and had needed to be assisted to even go into the raised position for quite some time I followed the online tutorials, there are many....replaced the PLASTIC part that had worn out Part #: AP4325266 (241764), and also the roll pin, Part #: AP3038054 (9703442) that held it in place with the handle. THIS IS THE HARDEST part of the entire repair, pounding out the roll pin and pounding it back in. A special tool should probably be used for this. I had a small specialized driver bit that "fit" for the job, so I abused it. Probably didn't need to BUY a NEW roll pin, ( it HAS be removed to get the lift arm out!) but for the cost of that vs. the shipping, I went ahead and ordered/replaced it. I recommend you DO NOT spend whatever they're charging for a cotter pin. I bought one @ my local Ace hardware store for 19 cents! And you most likely need to replace the cotter pin. They don't like being unbent, and bent back. Fatigues the metal, and older ones, esp. will break. Since my beater and dough hook that came with my mixer were the enameled white, and the finish had worn off in spots, I also treated myself to new all metal ones.( I had to buy the batter beater from another company. It was not in stock here.) And I bought a new pouring shield. Mine was the original 2 part one, and half had gone missing in a move. I'm VERY pleased with my "NEW" mixer! And all for LESS than $75, including all the new accessories. (and the additional shipping since I ordered from 2 places.) The prices here were MUCH better than other repair parts places. Shipping was less. My package from the competitor only arrived one day earlier. Considering the holidays. Excellent service all around!! The ACTUAL REPAIR could've been done for LESS than $10 not including shipping.
