Raymond B Havertown , PA December 12, 2024 Appliance: Whirlpool Mixer K5SS Lift arm not working kitchen aid lift style mixer k5ss The part fit perfectly. This is a part that works across years of KA lift style home mixers and some professional ones. If you have an older mixer of the 4 screw on the top of the pedestal you are in luck as the newer models require removal of covers from the top motor assembly and lifting out the motor assembly to get to the arm linkage. Good thing about them is that they have a screw for the arm linkage and a e-clip that connects the arm connector to the vertical rod. Older models are so much simpler ti dissasemble in that all you have to do is remove those 4 big phillips screws on the under side of the pedestal/motor assembly mount and lift off the entire unit. The procedure that might be a little strange for novices on these older models is that instead of the screw on the horizonal link that holds the link on there is a roll pin. That needs to be tapped out with a proper size pin punch and saved for re-assembly. Just punch it through with light tapping and it fall through the base - when re-assembling just tap it back in place and test operation so that the top of the pin clears the housing during operation. Very easily done. Second part is that the older models use a cotter pin to connect the arm of the link to the vertical rod instead of a e-ring. Just clip off the head of the older cotter with a pair of electrician's cutters and replace with a cotter pin of the same size. Read More...
