Tony M Chester , NJ February 01, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE9700AYW No heat Removed the heater of course and installed the part. Very easy to do no need to remove the drum, just top cover, control panel, and front door assembly. Remove the one screw holding heater, remove blue wire, turn heater CCW to the 8 o'clock poisiton. Install in the reverse order. This is the secound one in a month if it fails again i'll just bypass it and install a 25 AMP fuse. Jeffrey W Daufuskie Is , SC April 10, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE9700AYW Dryer was running but not heating I removed the top (two screws in the back) then 4 screws that hold the plastic console, 4 screws along the top edge of the door panel. 2 additional screws inside the door then the door panel can be removed. Un plug the door switch, remove door panel then in the lower right the heating element, thermal fuse thermostat, thermistor are all exposed. Test them all for continuity, and the thermal fuse was open. The thermistor also did not have continuity, and I learned later that it should normally read 10K Ohms at 70 degrees. I installed the new parts when they arrived, and Voila! The dryer heats again.
