Stand Mixer Commercial - Bowl Lift KSM8990NP0 Kitchen Aid 8qt commercial mixer. snap ring slipped causing bad mesh between gear & planetary. Planetary gear and drive gear were damaged because of incorrect alignment. (probably caused by manually lifting the mixer bowl while the unit was running to get to the bottom ingredients!) Replaced both gears and reseated snap ring. Misc tools needed: The square head for screws and snap ring pliers. super easy repair! Read More... Stand Mixer Commercial - Bowl Lift KSM8990DP0 Planetary torn in two pieces with small fragments while mixer kneading bread dough Replaced external gear and planetary. Heavily applied grease to external gear. Mixer had stopped for an instant and caused the agitator gear and shaft to flip at an angle. Mixer immediately resumed turning and the agitator shaft tore up the planetary. Discovered that the planetary gears appeared to have had very little grease. Read More... Steven K St. Louis , MO December 16, 2019 Appliance: KitchenAid 7 Qt. Stand Mixer / Commercial KSM7990WH0 Speed control was jammed So the speed control was jammed on the mixer; would not move. Upon disassembly, the plastic cooling fan for the motor was found to be broken and wedged in the speed control mechanism. Unfortunately, the fan is not available separately! I ordered the motor/transmission assembly with the fan attached and replaced the unit. There is one steel pin that has to be driven out which was difficult. Upon reassembly, the pin was too loose.
