Pat M Kansas City , MO December 05, 2023 Appliance: Jenn-Air Range-S/C S/I Gas & Elec Duel Fuel JDS9860AAP The oven was not staying up to set temperature I first tested and replaced the temperature sensor. Since this is a slide-in range, I managed to pull it out just enough to access the back without disconnecting the downdraft and gas line. (For wall models this would not be the case.) Unfortunately, that did not do it. Next I replaced the lower heating element because it was a little below the ohms level it should be at. No go. So far, both of these were pretty easy to do and were relatively inexpensive so I wasn't too frustrated. Then I noticed one of the oven door hinges was bent and badly worn. Hoping that could be it, I replaced that without too much trouble or cost. Again, not it. Now I am on the spot because Thanksgiving is in a few days! Next, after reading some blogs, I replaced the high-limit thermostat ($120), having to pull the unit and do some disassembly. During this process, I discovered the oven light assembly was allowing a lot of heat to circulate up and around the thermostat so I made some adjustments to that thinking that could have been affecting the thermostat. Now I am frustrated! Back to more blogs (2 days before Thanksgiving) and pulling out the Volt/Ohms meter again. After checking to make sure both oven elements were getting the proper current, I finally discovered the relay (controlling the upper and lower elements) was bad and only got 17 volts of DC current from the control instead of 24v. According to the "experts" the problem was the control, replacing the relay and not the control would just blow out the new relay. So after serious digging to make sure I was ordering the right control, I ordered it and a new relay, paid the next day shipping, and had the whole thing back in order the next evening. Holy cow, Thanksgiving actually went off without a hitch! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers

Terry S Kendrick , ID December 09, 2019 Appliance: Model JDS9860APP F1 code would flash on touch pad/clock panel with audible beeps when oven temperature reached high heats over a period After sliding the door up off of hinges the hinges were replaced by removing side panels on side of the range to access two screws on both sides. Replaced hinges and touchpad/clock panel model. Generally pretty easily replaced by removing four screws from the side and under the touchpad panel. Then unplug the wiring from the old touchpad module, taking care to note where the wire will be plugged back into new module. Special note! The touchpad module part is listed for two prices that significantly different, one for ~$300 and one for ~$800. Both modules at these two prices were described as being the same and recommended both for my Jenn-Air model number. Of course, I ordered the $300 module and it works great. Not sure why there are two prices for the same item????? Read More... 3 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers
