Whirlpool WP6-918873 Dishwasher Silverware Basket Assembly OEM Part

Dishes were 'gritty' with an almost invisible coating of specks smaller than grains of salt. Prior to ordering parts, I had to determine which part(s) needed replaced and which could benefit from a good cleaning. After viewing Appliance Parts Pros YouTube Videos, I removed the Main Manifold (snaps right off) including the Top Spray Arm. I discovered the Flappers of the Docking Station (AP6009888) were worn out and/or missing. I removed the Docking Station simply by popping the old one off the Main Manifold. The new one snaps right on (no tools needed) but prior to installing the new Docking Station, please remember to install the new Flappers. The second portion of my repair involved the Pump/Motor/Impeller area. The only tools required were pliers to remove the plastic Washer Arm Cap, which then allows removal of Lower Washer Arm. Also, a Number 15 (#15) and a Number 20 (#20) Torx screwdriver/socket were used to remove screws from the Filter Plate, Outlet, Impeller, and Filter Assembly. Upon inspection, I discovered that one area of the mesh/fabric screen of the Pump Filter (AP6016649) was torn. The replacement part part was ordered while all others were treated to a thorough and careful cleaning. Kudos to appliancepartspros.com! My parts arrived sooner than expected even though I chose Standard Shipping. I am very well pleased with Appliance Parts Pros instructional videos, their quick shipping, and their excellent quality parts. My dishwasher, even though more than 12 years old, is performing as good as new, as evidenced by my ultra clean dishes!!

I initially ordered the item from a local appliance store where I had purchased the dishwasher. The item I received was half a basket at a price of $42. I found the entire basket (two halves) at Appliance Parts Pros for $11. plus approximately $6 shipping and, upon ordering, I received the item in a day and a half. Needless to say, I returned the first item to the appliance dealer. (You need to amend this survey; I was not able to submit it until I indicated that I used a tool, which was not the case. I checked "Other" but that was not sufficient. Obviously, I did not need a tool to replace a silverware basket!!)

After talking with the rep from appliance pro, she helped me verify wat I needed, everything came as we discussed. After removing the inner door the vent assembly was difficult removing, it does unplug, do not twist it off, had to replace that piece as well. Had to cut of notch on inner door for the vent assembly to reseat properly. It does twist off, just a bear to put back on. once all assembled turned the machine on and no more leaks. Saved a bundle from calling the appliance repair guy.
