Nicholas M Miami , FL June 12, 2020 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MED9700SQ0 I had no error code, it is just that when you press start you would hear a click and no actions. It was the day of my birthday June 6th when my wife came to me to tell me that the dryer was not working. Immediately I started to look for a new dryer from Best Buy and the rest. Then I said It would be better if I waited for 4th of July at which time I could find a better deal. This is when I decided to take it apart to see what was wrong. Initially, I thought of the belt that could be broken and I rotated the drum by hand and I heard a noise of the belt at times falling on the drum. I was pretty sure there was a problem there but I could not understand why I could not hear the motor turning. When I took it apart I found the belt was intact but out of the pulley explaining why the drum was not rotating anymore and this is when I could understand why I could not hear the motor running because there is a protection switch that is activated when the belt goes around the pulley and lift the bracket activating that switch. I bought a new pulley from appliance parts pros and a new belt even though the other one was not broken. I replaced them and reassembled the unit. It is now working smoother than it ever did. I decided to postpone my idea of buying a new set saving me at least $2500 for now. I must admit that I am a Mechanical Engineer with good knowledge of electricity that gave me the enthusiasm to take that challenge. It was not the most difficult task but you must have a pretty good understanding of how to fix things. I encourage you to watch some videos of the parts installations provided and take a picture of every step you do and preferably filming if you can. Good luck! James R Minden , NV December 09, 2022 The dryer drum would barely turn. I watched videos on the disassembly of my dryer model, and got the model number hiding on the upper dryer door jamb. After calling AppliancePartsPros.com for help, then ordered parts with the help of APP. It took almost a full day to disassemble the dryer I have, as it is a little more complicated than some models, and I went very slowly on purpose to not lose screws, or break plastic parts. Getting the wiring harness apart was the hardest thing to do, as the screwdriver shown in the video was way too big to get under the plastic edge and release the tab, so I had to use a very small screwdriver for this, and still, it was a fight. The plastic housing cracked in the process, but only on one side, so it did not prevent proper reassembly. When I got the dryer drum out, it was obvious what the problem was obvious, as the Idler pulley assembly had frozen and would not turn, which had caused the belt to burn a bit. So I was glad I followed the recommendations of the APP rep, and got the entire assembly, since just the roller would not have been able to go on the frozen old hardware. I had to watch the placement of the belt pulley which looks so simple online about 10 times to be sure I got it right since the view shown in the video is the reverse angle from the view I had when doing the repair. I was careful when vacuuming out the dryer cabinet not to let static build-up, up since that can damage the electronic control board- I kept touching the motor housing during the vacuuming to discharge the static and didn't use a brush on my vac hose. The dryer works much better now, and I will keep it for a long time, since I can repair or replace most any part of it, now that I have had it apart and put it back together. Parts cost about 150.00, and included the idler pulley assembly, 4 drum support rollers, and a new belt. Diana K Phoenix , AZ September 20, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer GEW9250PW1 My whirlpool duet dryer started to squeal and rumble when the dryer was on I did a little research and found out that the dryer drum rollers needed to be replaced. I decided that since I would be replacing the 4 drum rollers that I should replace the belt and the belt drive pulley. This was a simple project thanks to YouTube. I used one of appliancepartspor videos to st me through the repair. Now I have a dryer that does not squeal like a pig! Dorothy W Colorado City , TX September 10, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool Electric Dryer GEW9250PW1 Belt broke on my whirlpool duet dryer From start to finish was 2 hours, but that included having to start supper & check on it at intervals & help the kids with homework & other things they suddenly need help with when I'm busy; so in reality it probably took less than an hour. My dryer is not on a pedestal so I found it easier to pull it away from the wall @ 2ft & tilt it back once I had it apart. Secured the belt to the top with a piece of tape so it'd stay in place while I wrapped the pullies.
