Michael M Mesquite , TX April 03, 2015 Appliance: Model LA780P Broken washer belt whirlpool imperial 70 Very difficult fix even though I had done it once before about 15 years ago. Problem for me was getting the transmission down far enough to get clearance to install the belt. Model LA780P from the mid 80s. It started leaking transmission fluid and that worried and hurried me. I bought a newer washer but went back to this older style because they are repairable. New ones are disposable and I like the old porcelin. The only two parts that ever break are the belt and the pump, the pump being pretty easy to replace. Bill S San Carlos , CA February 29, 2016 Broken drive belt on washer Ordered part. read manual. laid out all required tools. emptied remaining water in wash basin by hand. put washer on it's side and completed the task in 30 min. no surprises with the disassembly and the belt was the right size.
