Whirlpool direct driver washer leak caused by basket drive shaft wear Philip L. • Columbia , MD • November 15, 2019
In reality, this turned into a full-on rebuild project - with several parts orders, not just a simple repair. But I have to give credit: The parts listings with pictures on the AppliancePartsPros web site were really useful in figuring out what was going on inside the machine, and what parts I would need.
Also: The repair videos were critical for me to be able to ensure I was reassembling everything correctly. Shout out to Simon, who was featured in several of the repair videos. His "gorgeous...

Leak (found to be tub seal) and extreme spin vibration. Paul H. • Lakewood , CA • June 26, 2021
First, DO NOT call Sears for parts, their call center knows nothing about the product. App-Pros are the best for help and the right parts. I figured to repair, replace all seals and any item that shows need to and all items that have to do with the spin that may be bad. Repair videos great help. I will start from the "bottom" up, the repairs were not done in this order, just a list of what I did and notes. Replaced-- motor drive coupling, (checked out transmission ok), thrust washer,...

Teeth stripped from gear in transmission Robert G. • Wentzville , MO • June 17, 2015
The parts I purchased from Appliance Parts Pro fit perfectly and were reasonably priced. I received them the next day, which made the Wife (and me) very happy. Although Appliance Parts Pro did not have a repair video for this, I was able to find one online and the machine is washing like new again. The website is well laid out and easy to find what your looking for. Between the available parts and the videos they provide, anyone who is reasonably handy should be able to repair their machine as...

Broken washer belt whirlpool imperial 70 Michael M. • Mesquite , TX • April 03, 2015
Very difficult fix even though I had done it once before about 15 years ago. Problem for me was getting the transmission down far enough to get clearance to install the belt. Model LA780P from the mid 80s. It started leaking transmission fluid and that worried and hurried me.
I bought a newer washer but went back to this older style because they are repairable. New ones are disposable and I like the old porcelin.
The only two parts that ever break are the belt and the pump, the pump being...

Worn and bent wig wag solenoid plunger Rob H. • Denver , CO • November 16, 2015
Replaced it:
Loosened and lifted the wig wag solenoid
used a drill with grindstone and ground off the rivet head, swapped the new part in... BUT... the kit didnt contain the rivet clip so I had to hit the hardware store for a pushnut that fit, hopefully it will stay on.

Kenmore Series 70 Washer Not Spinning Kenneth W. • Monterey Park , CA • March 16, 2014
Our Kenmore Series 70 washer no longer spun during the rinse and spin cycle. After scouring the resource on the internet, the lid switch checked out OK, so it boiled down to the wig wag solenoid unit that engages the transmission. The back panel was opened and a check with a multimeter showed one of the solenoids was an open circuit and provided no resistance reading.
Removal of the old unit required some finessing with a prying tool and hammer to force it off of the shaft. The new unit...
