Allan H Baroda , MI March 06, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer MDG6000BWW Lack of heat and long drying times Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was gone, but it still didn't dry. I purchased and installed a gas valve coil kit and a cycling thermostat and the dryer is working like new again!!! I am so glad that I found this website with great info and a great selection of products at great prices. Teresa A Purcellville , VA March 11, 2016 Broken blower wheel (toy dropped inside and crushed the blades) After watching a few videos, I opened the front of the dryer, removed the old pieces and put in the new ones. This model of dryer was pretty easy to work with. One thing that I didn't expect to be so difficult was the removal of the old blower wheel. The new one slid right on, but the old one didn't want to budge without a lot of force. If you can go ahead and get the special snap ring pliers, it would definitely make it easier to get the snap ring off and on, but I did the repair with a set of tweezers. I recommend wearing work gloves--I got a few nicks on my hands while doing the repair.
