Donald K Lake Jackson , TX February 02, 2016 Appliance: Amana Refrigerator SXD26VW Amana sxd26vw refrigerator side intermittently not cooling I have an Amana refrigerator model SXD26VW. Periodically I was having an issue with refrigerator side not seeming like it was getting cool enough. I placed a thermometer in the fridge and was measuring temperatures ranging between 33 and 50 degrees F. Often, when the temperature was above 40 F, I noted that the compressor and fans were not running. Researching possible causes on-line, must likely causes were defrost timer and refrigerator temperature control assembly. I decided my temperature control thermostat was faulty after observing that, with the refrigerator temperature above 40 F, the compressor and fans would start when I tapped on the control box at the top of the refrigerator. I ordered new thermostat from AppliancePartsPros. I could not find a video that showed how to exchange the thermostat on this model. An issue I ran into when installing new part was that I struggled to understand the routing of the temperature sensing element (the capillary tube). To get some assistance, I initiated an on-line chat with and an AppliancePartsPros Associate. The associate researched my model, and told me that I needed to simply pull the metal capillary out of the plastic tube…the plastic tube stays is place. I completed installation of new thermostat, and refrigerator seems to be controlling temperature as normal. Gene G Austin , TX August 28, 2014 Appliance: Model AMANA SSD 025N5W Side by side refridgerator refrigerator too cool items freezing Called and talked with an Appliance Parts rep. I thought I need the control for refrigerator since there was a control for each side (freezer/refrigerator). The rep looked up the problem and said it was more than likely the control freezer assembly. I was not sure since the freezer was working fine. But the lady said try this part and if that does not fix the problem, return and they will send the other. According to their repair manual, this was more than likely the problem. Received the part, very quickly in mail, and replaced. I had no problem installing the part, in fact very easy. Most important it seems to have fixed the problem. No more watermelons freezing. John P Reseda , CA January 22, 2015 Appliance: Amana Refrigerator TM18B-L Freezer wasn't stating cold compressor kept shutting down I checked the thermostat in the freezer and when I tap on it, the compressor would kick in. I repaired a loose connection but that only works temporarily. I ordered a new thermostat and swapped it out. Everything works perfect now. Timothy M Birmingham , AL July 31, 2019 Appliance: Model 59657542790 KANMORE / SEARS Worked and made ice, but would not restart. My solution was to let unit " rest " for 12 hours Parts not needed ..all { parts [ originals ] in working order ... did NOT replace new parts for " working " original parts ... apparently a broken wire .... somewhere in harness ... possibly / probably in insulation .............. NOT worth complete disassembly to find ... I will instead install a TIMER between unit and power source to AUTOMATICALLY let unit " rest " without power 1.5 hours every night ... then AUTOMATICALLY re-power up and return to WORK mode.
