Richard H Bartlett , TN March 07, 2016 Broken drive on door dispenser for ice maker My LG electric dryer stopped drying the other day and I searched on line for suggestions on what may have caused it to stop working. I came across AppliancePartsPros.com and quickly found some of the most common issues with my LG dryer. The problems were listed in the order of most common occurrence, and had extremely helpful and detailed instructions on how to not only diagnose the problem, they also showed exactly how to access and repair the issue. Unfortunately, it was late on a Thursday evening when the dryer stopped and with loads of laundry that had to be done, I sourced the parts from a local source. I followed the instructions on AppliancePartsPro.com and had my dryer up and going in just a few hours. If it were not for this site, I would not have known where to begin or even what to look for. AppliancePartsPros.com saved me hundreds on a repair bill and made me look like a genius to my wife. I really wished I could have waited, because I would have been more than happy to order the parts from AppliancePartsPro.com to help repay them for the effort they put into their site and the quality of their videos. Based on my success by following instructions and videos on AppliancePartsPro.com, I decided to tackle another simpler problem. The door dispenser for the icemaker on my KitchenAid side by side refrigerator stopped working two years ago and I could never really find the parts I needed without having to buy the entire dispenser for $200.00! I ordered the RIGHT parts from AppliancePartsPro.com and followed the perfectly clear repair video and fixed the dispenser. Cannot believe that we went a couple of years when all I needed was a few dollars in parts and literally 10 minutes of time to repair the dispenser. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this site and if at all possible, order your parts from them, even if it might cost a few pennies more. Your support will help them continue to provide great detail for problem solving and show you exactly how to fix your appliance. Lyman G Webster , MA June 26, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Side By Side Refrigerator GD5SHAXKT00 The ice bin couple sheared in half The ice bin coupling halves and washer fell out when I looked to see what had happened. I also noticed significant frost on the underside of the ice bucket. When the replacement part arrived, I emptied the ice into a plastic bowl, and then used warm water to defrost the underside of the ice bucket. I then removed the screw, holding the auger while unscrewing. I put the washer (which I'd saved) and the new ice coupling on the ice tray and then put the screw back in, tightening it down. I put the ice bucket unit back in the fridge and added most of the ice from the plastic bowl back and tested the mechanism and it had returned to correct functionality. David B New Carlisle , OH December 02, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GI7FVCXWB00 Whirlpool ice maker would not dispense. There is a hexagonal shaft that connects the ice dispenser motor to an auger/chopper in the ice hopper. The end of the shaft had rounded-off. A new shaft was needed to fix the problem, but I realized that the real problem was that only about 1/8" of the shaft actually engaged the auger coupling at the top end. I needed to raise the shaft a little to make it better engage, so I dropped 4 #6 washers into the motor socket which raised the shaft about another 1/8", giving it about 1/4" engagement into the auger coupling at the top while maintaining about 1/2" engagement into the motor socket at the bottom.
