Kenneth C Massapequa Park , NY September 19, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED2KHAXVT01 Ice bucket/crushing motor would run but ice auger wasn't turning Discovered the long motor shaft end was stripped at the coupling under the ice bucket. I ordered the replacement parts utilizing the diagram provided by AppliancePartsPros.com. The parts came quickly and I had it fixed in about half and hour. (note) Would have been faster if I remembered how to put the crushing blades back together before I took it apart. But affter a few tries, and further looking at the blade lettering on the websites photo's, I was able to determine C was first on top thru A being the bottom blade. My ice dispenser works like new now. Read More... 45 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
Todd R Santa Clarita , CA May 24, 2014 Appliance: Model ED5LVAXWQ00 WHIRLPOOL Ice maker was not dispensing ice Motor was operating, dispenser door was operational, ice crusher mechanism working properly. Found that at the bottom of the removable ice bucket there is a cog (the cog is the bottom of the mixing bar that is in the ice bucket) that connects the mixing bar to the motor. The cog on the ice bucket was stripped not allowing the mixing bar to turn and put ice into the crusher arms or cubes into the door chute. Richard T East Aurora , NY May 13, 2018 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KSRY25CVMS01 Ice maker arm slippage and not turning or chopping ice Ice Bucket Coupling & Auger Motor Drive Shaft BOTH. I ordered both parts but at first only put in the Ice Bucket Coupling piece as this was the easiest and quickest part. I purposely wanted to do only this part first to see if it completely fixed the problem. Well, after replacing only this piece it was stronger and when I would hold the ice bucket arm (it's shaped like and upside-down question mark and you have to press the door trigger and have someone push the "ICE" trigger on the outside of the door) --- when I would trigger it on and hold the ice bucket arm to simulate a bucket full of ice it WAS stronger but would still slip a bit under a load. I replaced the Auger Motor Drive Shaft next and after doing so the ice bucket arm was much much stronger. Personally I recommend that if you have a stripped ice bucket coupling and/or Auger Motor Drive Shaft, replace BOTH of them, as if one is stripped, the other part is not far behind. Also, take the chance to clean all the mold... see my photos, as this was from the previous home owner, however I'm certain there's literally NO ONE that looks at this OR cleans it, ever. However if you're wonder how you may get strep throat... well here you go, bacteria in places you'd likely never look: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WiCfLfvpiKZ9N3QG2 Read More... 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Socket Set
