Lawrence R Parma , OH June 04, 2017 Appliance: Model SEARS MODEL 665.15739000 Repeated failure of the pump/drain system which was usually preceded by a "buzzing/grinding" noise culminating in a failure to drain I had previously disassemble the pump assembly to find what I at first thought was an oddly shaped spring, which it was. What I learned by researching the parts was that the spring's odd shape was a result of something having gotten caught in the pump and jamming the impeller. After ordering the parts, I watched the "repair video" a few time and proceeded to remove and replaced the affected parts. Reassembly went pretty much as described with the one small glitch being the seating of the new seal at the bottom of the pump. I would advise cleaning the shaft and seat extremely well and then – maybe – lubricating the seal and seat with a small amount of dishwashing liquid to ease the seating of the seal. In my case, was pressed partway into the seat, I could no longer remove the seal without damaging it, so I managed to press it into place with a 13/16" deep well socket that fit nicely over the perimeter of the seal, allowing me to press it in evenly. Reassembly after that was child's play and the pump rebuild resolved the aforementioned problems of noise and inefficient draining. Lastly, on the test run, I noticed some water beneath the dishwasher and initially thought the new seal had failed. What it turned out to be – I believe – was water that remained in the bottom of the pump leaking through while the new seal was being fitted. No Leakes were observed during a test run or thereafter. Something to keep in mind if you're going to attempt this. Pay close attention to the sequence in which the parts are installed with special attention being paid to the positioning of the check valve ball/balls. They are easy to misplace. Overall a gratifying repair for what appeared to be a fair market price AND the parts showed up in a little over 24 hours. Gregory J Albany , CA June 20, 2022 Appliance: Kenmore Undercounter Dishwasher 66515765691 Kenmore dishwasher would not drain although the motor ran and sloshed water around as usual. I checked the drain hose for blocking at the garbage disposal and then at the connection point to the dishwasher. The hose was clear and nothing was obviously obstructing where the drain hose connects to the dishwasher. At this point I Googled the model number with the term "will not drain" and immediately landed on the AppliancePartsPros.com website. At the Drain & Wash Impeller Kit page amazingly had a video showing the technician replacing the impeller on a dishwasher essentially the same as mine. On the basis of that video and my general knowledge and success fixing things, I ordered the impeller kit and a new check valve assembly. This is where the drain hose connects and I noticed the little rubber flapper was damage. When the parts arrived, I set to work. The video is comprehensive, to the point of showing that the impeller might be stuck and need a bit of chiseling to remove! The same was true for me and I found that the impeller was easy to remove with that knowledge in place and I might have hesitated otherwise. With the impeller removed, I found that the actual cause of the problem was an apricot pit stuck in the port where the water exits. I would have needed the parts kit anyway to get to the port so it was still a good value. From start to finish including a break for lunch was about 2 hours. All was well and the dishwasher washed and drained as previously. Couple of suggestions to make life easier. You do need the Torx screwdrivers as indicated in the video. Also, I had standing water and siphoned it out. You'll need the water gone to see clearly. I suppose that I could have let the water seep out the drain into a tray but I had a handy length of hose that make a good siphon. Finally, my dishwasher was ever so slightly different from the one shown in the video and I suggest that you take pictures as you go along and also lay out the parts you remove in order, even the chiseled out impeller for comparison during reassembly. All in all, this was a reasonable diy project and I saved the cost of an on-site service. I would do this again.
