Leonardo J Roswell , GA October 22, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool 30" Electric Built-In Downdrdaft Cooktop GJD3044RB02 Burnt out dual heating element and cracked glass top I was ready to replace the entire unit (cracked glass top and a non-working burner) but with a bit a research and patience I realized that it was an easy DIY repair job. In order to replace the burner I had to remove the glass top, which required lifting the unit off the counter (need to disconnect the downdraft duct) and unscrewing the top's frame (10 screws). Once the top is removed the heating elements are exposed. To replace the burnt-out element I had to disconnect the wires (make sure you know which is which to reconnect the new element) popped it out, and connected the new one. Very simple procedure. Once the new element was in, I installed a new glass top and placed the unit back in the counter (you will need a roll of foil tape for the duct work and a strip of about one yard of foam tape for the new glass top). Bottom line: I SAVED about $1200 in approx 20 minutes! And have the satisfaction of a successful DYI project! Ronald C Albequerque , NM December 17, 2015 Only one half of the burner would light I ordered the part online and it arrived on the date promised. I removed the 10 screws that held the glass top in place. Make sure you turn off the circuit breaker first. I then disconnected the 5 wires that connected to the burner and removed it. I removed the 2 brackets on the bottom of the old burner and screwed them onto the new burner and installed the new burner. Only needed a screwdriver and needle nose pliers. Read More... Kermit D Granbury , TX April 24, 2017 Appliance: Whirlpool 30" Electric Ceran Cooktop GJC3054RB01 Top right hand burner on countertop stove was burned out I first turned the power off and checked the stove to make sure there was no power to it. Pulled stove out of counter and used two 1x2 pieces of wood to hold it up. Took ten screws out of the base to remove the top. Removed the burner noting how it was wired. Removed the clips that held the burner in place and reinstated them on the new burner. Reinstalled new burner and replaced top. Reinstalled cooktop in counter. Turned power back on and checked to see that the burner was working. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
