Richard S Camano Island , WA May 19, 2015 Appliance: Model JENN AIR (MAYTAG JDS9860AAP) Burned out oven bake element Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. Reverse the past few steps and re-attach the wires and screw. Simple as that. I also chose to replace the Broiler Element as a precautionary measure following essentially the same procedure (a few more screws). The oven door gasket was old and leaking, so it was also replaced as well. No tools require. Since I was in the oven box, I also replaced temp sensor and broiler element as all parts were 10 plus years old. Seemed prudent . Read More... They even warn you of how to be careful of seemingly small potential problems that could add a lot more work to the job and how to be certain they don't occur (a short wire falling back behind the oven wall) .
