Charles M Bandera , TX March 30, 2014 The baking element was on fire I finally found the right serial number and found the part at Appliance Parts Pros. I was skeptical that they would send the element that had the correct rear brace fixture. when it came 2 days later i opened the box the Part was correct and it took about 15 minutes to replace since there are only two screws. My oven works fine now. THX Read More... 42 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Richard S Camano Island , WA May 19, 2015 Appliance: Model JENN AIR (MAYTAG JDS9860AAP) Burned out oven bake element Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new. Reverse the past few steps and re-attach the wires and screw. Simple as that. I also chose to replace the Broiler Element as a precautionary measure following essentially the same procedure (a few more screws). The oven door gasket was old and leaking, so it was also replaced as well. No tools require. William P Spring , TX June 14, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Free Standing Electric Range MER5751AAW The lower element in our oven began to spark then this turned into a flame We turned the control knob to off, and all of the flame and sparking stopped. I looked this up on the Internet, and it seems to be a common problem. Appliancepartspros had the best price, and the part was in stock. Ordered the next morning and had it shipped overnight. The next night, I removed the old element. Just two screws hold it in place. Swapped the wires over, and fastened the screws back in place, and done. The old element fell apart at the burned spot. The surface reminded me of sparklers, very rough in the burned area. Thank you Applianceparts pros for having the part in stock, and for getting it out so quickly. The cost, even with overnight shipping was less than just a service call would have been!
