Lawrence P Mount Laurel , NJ September 09, 2014 Appliance: Jenn-Air Refrigerator JCD2389GES The ice auger broke off and fractured the back panel of the ice bin The removal of the ice bin and auger motor was easy but removing the auger from the shaft was another story. The auger was frozen to the shaft even after it sat out overnight. I carefully applied heat with a propane torch, directly on joint of the auger and the tip of the shaft, followed by a few drops of cold water. Once the shaft and auger cooled the auger separated easily. Putting the components back together was simple taking about ten more minutes. William M York , PA August 12, 2015 Ice froze in the ice bucket trough around the auger while we were on vacation we went to get ice and heard a very "cracking" sound the motor totally broke off the back of the ice bucket housing Ordered new parts. They arrived in very rapid time. Watched the video on how to replace on the AppliancePartsPros.com. Very helpful! Lloyd W Streamwood , IL January 08, 2026 Appliance: Model JENN-AIR JCD2389GES The ice bucket housing had disintegrated and the motor twisted off I pulled out the old housing and unplugged the motor. It pretty much came out in pieces. Remove the plastic from the motor, then had to take a pair of vice grips to hold the spindle in place to remove the auger. Remove what was still attached to the old Housing. Cleaned everything up and put the whole unit back together. The motor looked like it was somewhat cooked but still worked, so I ordered a new motor and auger to replace it. Because this fridge is 24 yrs old, Appliancepartspros had one and might not next week. Everything is back together and the ice maker is working again. Should have been like a 30 minute job, but there was a lot of cleanup. Read More...
