At first I thought the motor had burned out, so I ordered a new motor. When I started to take the machine apart, I found that the original motor shaft attachment on which the impeller sits was made of nylon and had stripped; the motor was turning but the shaft attachment/cutting blade/impeller was not. So I ordered a new motor seal kit with the metal shaft attachment. Very fast and easy job (a little tricky to hold a screwdriver in the motor to keep it from turning and to reach into the machine to tighten the shaft attachment since I was doing it myself - I had to hold the screwdriver with my toes). Also found that the pump filter membranes had tears, so I replaced that part as well. Dishwasher (10 years old) now works like new. To do this, I turned off the electricla breaker, turned off the water to the machine, disconnected the water line to the machine, pulled the machine out, removed the internal parts to expose the motor shaft, tilted the machine backwards so it was almost at 45 degrees, put the screwdriver in the hole in the motor to keep it from turning and held it with my foot, then attached the motor shaft attachment with an adjustable wrench. Then I put on the rest of the parts. 25 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
