David L Troutman , NC January 06, 2024 Appliance: Maytag 30" Built-In Electric Oven Non-Convection JJW8530DDS28 Oven door would not close and the light stayed on all the time. I replaced the gasket and ordered the other parts for the door that the hinges attach to in the frame of the oven. The person I spoke with told me I should always replace this part when I replace the hinges. I had replaced the hinges about 3 years ago but did not replace the additional parts. His advice was extremely helpful and solved my issue. Also, I am very pleased with the order fulfillment. I got my parts quickly and I was back to baking. It is covered under Tech Bulletin:TDC-0017B-B. Very frustrating to not have known this. Suffered with the issue for several years. Installation was rather easy with the exception of having to pull the unit out of the wall 6 inches to replace the hinge retainer. Read More... Dennis R Mishicot , WI January 02, 2017 Appliance: Maytag 30" Built-In Electric Oven Convection JJW9530DDW30 Door would not close all the way causing the convection fan to turn off and not bake It took a while to figure out what was going on but I noticed the oven light would come on and the convection fan would shut off. I would push the door shut and everything would work for a while and then it would start all over. I noticed the oven gasket was very hard in places and that was what was causing the door to not close. It was not a hinge problem.
