Whirlpool W11133646 Gear OEM Part

Opened up transmission housing and removed all gearing to inspect for worn parts. The Professional 6 is all metal (except for the transmission housing cover) so just a couple of gears looked worn. Planetary needed adjustment, although the gearing was solid. Replaced the transmission housing cover with a new metal version. Cleaned out the old grease (all that grease...) and repacked the gears. Closed it up, ran it for 30 minutes to set in the new grease, and everything sounds smooth and quiet. Two things if you decide to try this very doable rebuild: You will need high-quality snap ring pliers. I fought with that thing for over an hour because my snap ring pliers were substandard. Also, be prepared to deal with grease. Lots and lots of grease. I also give Appliance Parts Pros highly my highest recommendation for quick service and high-quality parts. They were a pleasure, start to finish (especially Tiffany B).

When I opened it up, the pinion gear had worn away at the lower gear housing, filling the housing with metal shavings. I replaced the lower gear housing and the pinion gear. I had to adjust the brass sleeve/bushing that the attachment shaft slips through on the planetary. The sleeve had shifted up, toward the lower gear housing which was causing the pinion gear to ride too high in the gear housing. Using a wooden dowel, I was able to hammer it back into the planetary housing.

I opened the mixer and inspected the gears as I saw in a few how-to videos. Some were clearly worn, and some I was not sure of. I ended up replacing all of the gears. The total time to complete was about 1 hour. My wife just used it this past weekend to make 200 cupcakes and it worked like new! These mixers are expensive to replace and pretty easy to fix!

Watched videos available on APP's website, then ordered all necessary parts. Once parts arrived, just followed the videos again, step-by-step, to repair the mixer. I am NOT a "handyman", but with APP as my resource, I did it. Mixer running great now.

So far I have the mixer completely torn apart and all the old grease with metal fragments cleaned out of the mixer. It is now a simple matter of replacing the old gears with the new ones and refilling with new grease. I will do this if I ever get the new worm gear that is lost somewhere in the Fedex system. Appliance parts has sent another one on its way but will be somewhat delayed due to the holiday. Hardest part of this type of repair is to spotlessly clean out all the old grease. I highly recommend doing it though as your new gears will last far longer. This will be my third gear replacement and I always replace all the gears except the lower planetary gear which has only needed replacing once. If you've spent the time, replace them all.
