Lauren F Harvard , MA December 08, 2014 Appliance: Model KP2671XGR The mixer was leaking grease down the attachment shaft When I opened it up, the pinion gear had worn away at the lower gear housing, filling the housing with metal shavings. I replaced the lower gear housing and the pinion gear. I had to adjust the brass sleeve/bushing that the attachment shaft slips through on the planetary. The sleeve had shifted up, toward the lower gear housing which was causing the pinion gear to ride too high in the gear housing. Using a wooden dowel, I was able to hammer it back into the planetary housing. 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
