Jodi G Oak Park , MI December 01, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Electric Range MER6751AAQ Door handle of upper oven broke off Start by removing the frame on the sides and bottom of the door. (Do not unscrew the corner screw holding the side frame and bottom together.) Be careful the glass will fall once the last screw is removed from the bottom so hold tight. Carefully remove glass and set aside. Remove top frame that held the handle. Once all the frame work and outer glass is removed unscrew the bracket that held the door handle from the door. Taking the top frame and bracket insert screw and washer and screw the handle on. Reattach bracket with the top frame and door handle. Put glass in bottom frame and reattach framework. (** Might find it easier to work on by removing the oven door. Just open the door and lift up sliding the door off the hinges. To put door back slide it back on the hinges. This step is not necessary but it does make handling the glass easier.) Read More... 11 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
John H Shelburne , MA May 02, 2014 My son thought the handle on my stove was a good place to sit the stove handldidn't agree and snapped off on one side I unscrewed the top three screws of the oven door. Then pulled the glass front off. Removed the interier handle brackets (2 screws on each side). I reversed the process when I installed the oven handle. It was a little tricky installing the top bracket without chipping the glass front. Be patient! Edward D Hyattsville , MD January 27, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Freestanding-Double Oven-Gas MGR6775ADQ An oven door handle had broken off one side's screw had come loose and pulling on the handle caused the other side to break off After finding the model number, I went online and placed an order with Appliance Parts Pro. After discovering that I had ordered the wrong color (before it had shipped) a single phone call was all that was needed to rectify that issue with no cost to me :-) The replacement came within a week and fixing it (a Maytag) was very simple. Simply pulled the door upwards and it slid off the hinge (great design for repair or cleaning). Then it was simply a matter of removing the front of the door to access the bracket that held the handle. The whole project took about 20 minutes. Scott J Blomkest , MN January 26, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Self Cleaning Free Standing Electric Range MER5755QAQ Handle fell off door does not work as a chair I removed the 3 screws at the top of the door and then removed the 2 handle brackets, 2 screws each. I then removed the glass front. I then attached the new handle to the mounting brackets and reattached the brackets. I then replaced the glass by removing the 2 outside screws of the bottom glass retainer and loosened the middle screw enough that I could slide the glass behind the handle and above the bottom bracket. I replaced the outside screws on the bottom bracket and tightened the middle screw. I then replaced the 3 screws at the top of the door. Read More...
