Hugo V Fontana , CA September 28, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MSD2641KEW The freezer is cold but the refrigerator is warm coils are frozen I checked for continuity with an OHM meter. Defrost thermostat was good. I then replaced it any way since the unit is old, the problem was the heater evaporator but this is the advice . Take it out of the unit and check for cracks or any visible damage. I checked mine it was giving me a good reading, but when I took it out of the unit I saw a tiny crack right on the tip and replaced it for a new one and fixed the problem and my return was hassle free. Jeremy P Hodgenville , KY July 23, 2016 Defeost element was bad in refrigerator I actually ordered the part from Sears online first. It ended up it was on backorder from their supplier. I ordered it from appliance parts pro and got it in about 2 or 3 days. I have a maytag side by side refeigerator and it was tripping my gfci outlet in my garage. The problem was a defeost unit on the condensor. I had to remove the shelfs and every removable part.. (Ice tray, ice tray mechanism and light bulbs) then i removed the rear panels on the inside... I unsnapped the condensor, unplugged the defeost element which either wraps around the condensor or in my case was at the bottom of the condensor... Once i unplugged the element i plugged the refeigerator in and the gfci didnt trip... To further investigate the problem i just took a meter and checked the resistance. When the new part came in, i just installed it and everything i took apart. It works like a champ now.
